Membership

Who are the Knights?

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

Our Council's members range in age from 18 to 85, with a median age of 49. About one fourth of our members are Patriotism (4th) Degree members, and nine are Honor Guard members (as of July 2009). All of our members receive an informative monthly newsletter, and a large percentage enjoy the monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of each month. New members are always welcome.

Membership Benefits

As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including the monthly Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus' top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.

We raise funds for charitable causes through a variety of activities. We host a Family Bingo night, "Knights at the Races," barbeques, and a monthly Parish Breakfast on Sundays during the school year. We also sell gift cards and certificates. The proceeds from the annual Tootsie Roll Drive for the mentally handicapped are given to Cardinal Glennon Childrens’ Hospital and three local institutions devoted to helping the handicapped.

High on the list of programs we support are pro-life activities, as well as support of seminarians from our parish. Our youth programs include the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Challenge; a Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest; and essay contests.

The 170-plus members of Holy Infant Council enjoy family picnic and swimming parties, an annual family mini-golf tournament, wife appreciation dinner, and family Christmas party. Members are invited to participate in a variety of tournaments at the state level in Missouri. These tournament activities include golf, softball, horseshoes, bowling, fishing, and more.

How to Join

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.

For information about the council and for membership application procedures, call Dan Raidt at 636-256-4994.

4th Degree

Any Third Degree member in good standing, six months after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called "assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.

Ladies Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary's goals are to assist in promoting the welfare of the Holy Infant Knights of Columbus Council, to promote charitable activities, and to promote sociability among the members. They do this primarily by providing help at events, creating fund raising events to support charities, and providing activities of interest to the members. The ladies also generally help with beautifying sites for events.

The Ladies Auxiliary at Holy Infant was chartered September 17, 2002.

Please see the Ladies Auxiliary page for more information.
